The Parachutist

She fell out of love one spring afternoon
while leaning over the edge of despair,
            & forgot to breathe.

As she tumbled toward the ground,
her body relaxed, she gulped
            the intoxicating air.

When her parachute opened, she searched
below, saw a bowl of sweet green grass
            in which to land.
