The Parachutist

She fell out of love one spring afternoon
while leaning over the edge of despair,
& forgot to breathe.
As she tumbled toward the ground,
her body relaxed, she gulped
the intoxicating air.
When her parachute opened, she searched
below, saw a bowl of sweet green grass
in which to land.
